

Lucien ‘Lou’ Gioe passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the age of 81. He was the cherished husband of Noelle Degelos Gioe for 61 years. Loving father of Gina Marie Gioe Hernandez (Jimmy), Jeanne Gioe LeBlanc (Ricky) and Toni Ann Gioe Clark (Kerwin). Son of the late Joseph and Mary Mistretta Gioe. Brother of Joseph C. Gioe (Joyce) and the late Babe Gioe (the late Dot), Margaret G. Jirovech (the late Alfred), Sister G. Gessler (the late Frank), Johnny Gioe (Claire), Josephine G. Voelker (the late Joe) and Frank Gioe (the late Shirley). Brother-in-Law of Betsy D. Alexander and the late Bubba Degelos (Barbara). Proud grandfather of Jamie Armond (Beau), Lacey Broussard and the late Kristy Broussard. Godfather of Patsy Gioe Randazzo and Tommy Tommaseo. Also survived by his step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, including his caregiver Kernell Dorsey and his loyal furver friend JoeJoe. Lucien was born in New Orleans, LA on May 22, 1933 and was lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was the owner and operator of Lou Gioe’s Truck Service and Demolition for over 50 years. Lucien also worked for E.C. Durr for many years. He loved Mardi Gras and reigned as King for the Krewe of Samson and Delilah many years ago. Lucien was an avid New Orleans Saints Fan often hosting Saint’s parties for family and friends. He shared a love for horses with his daughters and granddaughters. Lucien will be forever remembered as a very hard worker who was devoted to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
