Margaret B. Savoy passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the age of 93. She was the beloved mother of Andrew Breaux (the late Sandy), Ronald Breaux (Kelly), Roxanne Chalona (Fernando) and Annette Monroe. Proud grandmother of Michelle Breaux,
Melissa Breaux, Andrea Nally, Claudia Blum (Ari), Emily Breaux, Lana Rayes (Ian), Chelsie Nunez, Amanda Monroe, Melanie Agnew (Phil), Michael Chalona and Adrian Chalona. Brother to Edward L. Bosch, Jr. (Diana). She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Leontine (Bobbie) Bosch; her husband Andrew Breaux Jr.; husband Oscar Savoy and her sister Alice B. Arostegui.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Margaret spent her formative years in the Ninth Ward, where she cultivated a spirit of resilience and warmth that would define her life. After marrying her beloved husband, Andrew "AJ," Margaret relocated to St. Bernard Parish, where they lovingly raised their family for 28 years. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. In 2000, Margaret embarked on a new chapter of her life in Slidell, alongside her husband Oscar, whom she shared over 23 years of marriage. She resided in Slidell until her passing.
Margaret lived life to the fullest, finding joy in simple pleasures and cherished pastimes. She had a fondness for savoring old-fashioned scotch cocktails, dancing the night away, and engaging in lively card games. A spirited risk-taker, she relished the thrill of a night out at the casino and cherished the adventures of travel. Beyond her passions, Margaret exuded grace and elegance in all aspects of her life. She was a proud member of esteemed organizations such as the Red Hats Society, Petroleum Club, and Suburban Women's Club, where she formed enduring friendships and shared countless memorable moments.
In her later years, Margaret found solace and comfort in the company of dear friends and compassionate caregivers. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Lori Thomas, Brent Raccuglia, and the dedicated staff of Oak Park Village in Slidell for their unwavering support and care. Additionally, they express profound appreciation to the compassionate team at Compassus Hospice, especially Kim and Sara, for their kindness and assistance during Margaret's final days.
Margaret will be remembered fondly for her laughter, zest for life, and genuine kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her devoted family and countless friends.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, March 25th from 9:00AM - 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
