Marie Truxillo O'Connor

Marie Truxillo O'Connor passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Abita Springs, LA on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the age of 84. She was the cherished wife of the late Edward B. O'Connor Jr., and by previous marriage, the late Charles Weixel. She was preceded in death by her parents William D. Truxillo and Emma Truxillo; her siblings Shirley Schlumbrecht, Margie Kahrs, Hilda Hymel and Jane Maranto; and her beloved child Christopher O'Connor.

She is survived by her partner Russell Fern; her sister Ethel Frantz; her children Edward B. O'Connor III (Partner - Julie Damare) and Darren M. O'Connor Sr. (Partner - Donna Trapani); her grandchildren Darren M. O'Connor Jr. and Edward B. O'Connor IV; and her great grandchildren Blakely Olivia O'Connor and Edward B. O'Connor V. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Marie was born in New Orleans, LA and a current resident of Abita Springs. After raising her children she enjoyed a career as a Medical Secretary. After her retirement she found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Marie will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10:30AM – 12:30PM. A Memorial Mass will begin at 12:30PM.
