Mary Ann Theady Bonura entered into eternal life on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the age of 73. She was the cherished wife of 28 years to Anthony "Ted" Bonura; loving God mother of Stephen Guidry (Ashely), Tonya Westerfield and Alicia Rockwell Breazeale (Luke); proud aunt of 6 nieces & nephews and 9 great nieces & nephews; sister of Susan Howard and Eddie Theady (Pam). She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Paul Theady and Leatrice Dauterive Theady; her brother Lester Theady and her sister Sissy Trapani (Frank). She also leaves behind many cousins, and dear friends.
Mary Ann was a 1968 graduate of Francis T. Nichols High School in New Orleans and earned an associate's degree in business from Nunez Community College in St. Bernard Parish. Also, MaryAnn recently retired as executive assistant from Chaffe & Associates New Orleans, in 2021.
Mary Ann was a woman with a passion for life and gatherings with family & friends and certainly enjoyed a good game of cards while sharing comradery with some of the people she was closest to. Early on in her younger adult lite she enjoyed table games such as Pokeno and later acquired a passion for good times and laughter with weekly evening events of Bunco card games as well. She also leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a faith to the Lutheran religion that remained with her throughout her lifetime.
Mary Ann had a heart full of love and she liked to express her kindness through cooking and baking especially when came down to preparing some of grandma Dauterive's holiday dessert cookies and fudge to enjoy when going to her house on Christmas eve. One thing Mary Ann held sacred was the candied apple recipe that was passed down to her from her father and till this day has never given out the recipe to anyone, but you could always rest assure when Mardi Gras season came around, you could expect crisp candied apples waiting on you to take to the parades.
Above all else, Mary Ann's greatest expression for fun was reserved for a day / evening of music and dancing. Mary Ann would be the first on the dance floor to show off her rhythm and love for music through dancing and certainly enjoyed a good band at any event, wedding venue or dance club. One thing was for sure, if you didn't want to dance and be pulled out on the floor, you might not want to get in arm's length of her.
Mary Ann leaves a void in our hearts, but her memory will live on in the stories we share and the love we continue to feel for her. She was an amazing and strong woman who touched the lives of many who knew her. May she rest in peace, forever surrounded by the love of caring she gave to others.
