Melissa Kay Roussel passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the age of 49. She was the cherished wife of 14 years to Michael Roussel Jr. Loving mother of Meagan Kaupp, Harley Pounds-Kritzman, Michael Roussel III and Holden Roussel. Proud grandmother of Scarlett Kritzman and Luna Kritzman. Sister of Schereen Russell, Daneel Lucas, Angela San Martin and Brandi Shanley. Daughter of Elizabeth Jung and the late Edward Eppinette and Juan “Johnny” San Martin. Melissa is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Melissa was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where she enjoyed a long career as a hair stylist and salon owner. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Her fondness for her crafts and driving in her corvette was surpassed only by the love for her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.
Although Melissa’s illness made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.
With Melissa’s passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Please join us for a gathering and celebration of her life at Covenant United Methodist Church, 115 D’Amour St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, September 25th beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will be private.
