It is with heavy hearts and immense love that we announce the passing of our devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Patricia “Patsy” Sanders O’Neill. Patsy went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 6th, 2025 at the age of 79. She was the beloved mother of Stacey O. Bernard (Allen), Tiffany O. White (Ryan), Patrick J. O'Neill Jr., and Michael J. O'Neill; proud MawMaw to Kayla Bernard Serigne (Jakie), Patrick Joseph O'Neill III (Cortney), Karlie Bernard Menesses (Evan), Jake Allen Bernard (Alexis), Cole Patrick Landry, Logan Michael O’Neill, Camryn Lillian White and Caden Robert White; great-grandmother to Kali Jade Serigne, Kami Jo Serigne, Karsyn Klaire Bernard, Jaxson Lee O'Neill and Owen Allen Menesses; loving sister to Pamela S. Oddo (the late Frank), Debra S. Davis, Cary Lee Sanders Jr. (Linda), Richard A. Lipari (Jackie), Michael Sanders and Bobby Sanders. She is also survived by her bonus mother, Kathy Sanders, many dear friends and extended family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Patrick Joseph O'Neill; her son, Harry J. O’Neill; her great grandchild, Jaci Klaire Serigne; her parents, Lillian Verneuille Lipari, Anthony Mercurio Lipari and Cary Lee Sanders; and her sister, Caryl S. Harper.
Patsy was a graduate of the 1964 class of Francis T. Nicholls High School. She met and married the love of her life, Patrick J. O’Neill shortly after and they built and raised their family in St. Bernard Parish.
A woman of unwavering faith, Patsy was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Chalmette. She spent countless hours reading her Bible and worshiping the Lord who sustained her through every challenge. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13 is her favorite bible verse, and she was a true testament to the power of prayer, belief, love and faith.
Patsy’s greatest joy came from being with her family. They were her whole world. She also enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb like no other! She was a light to all who knew her and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love.
Patsy is remembered as sincere, loyal, friendly and faithful to all those who had the privilege to work alongside her in the insurance industry, at the bank, and at later Walgreens, a sister in Christ to her church family, and the beloved “Aunt Patsy” to so many children and their families that she cared for over the years. She will be forever known as our family’s matriarch, the glue that held us all together - in good times and in bad, our glimpse of Heaven here on Earth and our HERO!
