Paul Anton Van Ampting

Paul Anton Van Ampting, passed away October 3, 2014. Born in Bellwood, NE. The son of Anton and Theodora (Hendrickson) Van Ampting. He attended Bellwood High. Paul served in the Air Force of the United States until the 30th day of march 1952 attaining the rank of Sergeant. On April 14, 1952 Paul married the love of his life, Gladys Mary Ganaway. Paul was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard parish and worked for Gulf States Equipment until death. Paul will be especially remembered as a devoted husband and family man, raising three beautiful children. He will also be remembered as a person who could fix anything. After serving in the US Air Force, Paul learned many different trades including welding, carpentry, electrician, HVAC, and machinery. Paul was a Nebraska farm boy who never lost his touch with growing just about anything. Paul also loved to make wine from all types of fruit. Survivors include his wife Gladys Ganaway Van Ampting (Chalmette), children, Ronald P. Van Ampting (Pam) Maine, Anthony P. Van Ampting (Tiffany) Chalmette, Paula Van Ampting Farrell (Pat) Walker, grandchildren include Ronald Jr. Van Ampting (Gina) Slidell, LA, Joshua Farrell (Nicole) Watson, LA, Christopher Farrell (Paige) New Orleans, LA, Nicole Farrell Baton Rouge, LA, Kade Van Ampting Chalmette, LA, Logan Van Ampting Chalmette, LA, Joseph Van Ampting, Chalmette, LA, Alexa Van Ampting Chalmette, LA. Great grandchildren Adalyn, Boden, Rebeckah and Matthew. Brother Tony Van Ampting, AZ, Rosemarie (Paul) Bruckner Schuyler, NE. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William F. Van Ampting, Van Van Ampting, his sisters Dorothy Pokorny, and Mary Taylor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 11:30 A.M. – 1:30 P.M. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:30 P.M. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
