Phillip James "P.J." DiFatta, Jr. was born in St. Bernard parish on 6/8/1988. His life was taken too soon by his own hand Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the age of 33. P.J. was known early on as the spirited boy with bright blue eyes, signature smirk, and a willingness to debate almost any topic. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 2006, attended Nunez Community College, and completed the EMS program. He enjoyed a multitude of hobbies, beginning with hunting and fishing with his father. At the age of 16, he won first place in the prestigious Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo aboard the aptly named "Captain P.J." He was an avid video gamer, making a name for himself in online communities, with friends often referring to him as "Right Click." His most recent pursuits were in day trading, film making, and music writing. While P.J. faced many challenges in his lifetime, his family's greatest hope is that he has finally found peace.

P.J. is survived by his devoted parents Phillip James "Jim" DiFatta, Sr. and Lynette Richard DiFatta, his older sister Jamie DiFatta, his uncle and godfather Joseph S. "Joey" DiFatta, Jr., his aunt and godmother Kelly Richard Koch (Eric), and his cousins Joseph S. "Joey" DiFatta, III (Francesca), Jeffrey DiFatta, Felicia Koch James (Bradley), and Christopher "Chris" SanMarco, Jr. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Lynn J. "Pops" Richard and Antoinette "Nettie" Macaluso Richard, and paternal grandparents Joseph S. "Joe" DiFatta, Sr. and Alice "Nana" Richoux DiFatta.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, October 16th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service in Phillip’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

A reception at Jim and Lynette’s home will follow to celebrate P.J.’s life.

As I'm getting ready to come to the funeral this morning, snippets of memories flash through my head: P.J. doing his homework at the snack bar, P.J. making a joking comment to Jamie then running up the stairs, Mrs. Lynette saying, "Son," while making her characteristic ya-gotta-be-kidding-me face. The P.J. of my childhood was witty and mischievous and had the saucy smirk to go with those qualities. I will think of him and the rest of the DiFatta family today.

I am so shocked at the loss of Phillip. I live right around the corner from Rouses, and we connected on a film level right away. We had fantastic times writing scripts and thinking up shots. I can remember when we turned my house into a mini movie studio, and Phillip, Connor "The Bird", Debbie and I stayed up all night shooting scenes. I really enjoyed his creativity and brilliance! I am truly going to miss you brother! My deepest condolences to his family!

I heard the news today and I can't believe it. My condolences go out to Phil's family and friends. We met at work at Rouses and from then on it was great times, film nights with everyone, deep conversations and great times at work. Even though we didn't see eye to eye or talk in the end I can't deny the times we had , the things we experienced and learned with each other, and our friendship. I will miss you always, brother. Rest in peace.

Where do I begin, an awesome childhood friend who i grew up with since kindergarten all the way through high-school. The memories I have of us will be cherished. Pj introduced me to the gaming world and I was hooked. You were cheerful, motivated, and intelligent. I remember a few times we would have to sit at your moms dance studio because no one trusted us home at your house. Afraid we would destroy it haha. I will always remember the great times we've had. Thank you for being a great friend, until we meet again. Rest easy my friend

Deeply sorry for y'all loss.  Remember PJ from school at the Cross one grade level under me, rokin' his spiked hair long sideburns and his signature smerk, always made me laugh with his humor and often respectfully rebutting some teachers.  My senior year I was in charge of Blue Circle (sketched & painted sideline banners & team run throughs), he was a one of a few fellow students I could count on to stay after school to finish and have banners ready for sporting events; his Tiger Spirit in the student section at sporting events was ALWAYS HIGH ENERGY.

Regret we weren't closer and didn't keep in touch over the past few years; wishing my fellow HC brother didn't capitulate to this LIFE's struggles. I pray OUR Father has Grace & Mercy on PJ's soul, praying flights of God's angles have sung him to sweet rest and he finally has found peace.

HC Brothers for EVER this LIFE and any other(s),

I never know how to start these things off so here goes nothing , hey it’s Sandra , sandals , Stephanie And all the other random names you used to call me but Phillip you were a really great guy . As goofy as goofy can get and with one of the biggest heart out there . Where’s Carl ?!? If y’all don’t know who carl is he’s a cat . One thing that Phillip had me open my eyes to is the fact that even though my hearts been broken so many times doesn’t mean to not let love in . Just because you’re hurting doesn’t mean you can’t accept the love. I miss you buddy until we meet again
