Raymond Joseph Guidry, Jr.

Raymond Joseph Guidry Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023 while surrounded by his family at the age of 62. He was the beloved husband of Karen Picou Guidry for 27 years. Loving father of Raymond J. Guidry III, Brittany Guidry Ponthier (Kerry) and Kailie L. Guidry (Kenny). Son of the late Raymond J. Guidry Sr. and Dorothy Graffeo Guidry. Son-in-law of the late E. Donald Picou and June N. Picou. Brother of Maryann Hendrix Rizzuto (Carey). Brother-in-law of Donald Picou (Patricia) and Keith Picou (Cheryl). Grandson of the late Salvador & Mary Graffeo and Wilford & Hazel Guidry. Proud Godfather of Charles Kovesdi (Lauren). Also survived by 2 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Raymond was born on September 13, 1961 in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. For Raymond, work was not just a job; it was a lifelong calling. He dedicated 43 years of his life to the Aerospace industry, with the majority of his career at Lockheed Martin (formally Martin Marietta) where he retired before going on to work for Boeing. His commitment to his work was a source of pride for him and inspiration for those around him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Raymond found joy in the simpler pleasures of life. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, where he could appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. Raymond was an avid Saints football and LSU Tigers fan and he shared many memorable moments with friends and family while watching the games.

Raymond's presence was a gift to all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, and friend, always ready with a helping hand and a kind word. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all of those whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will begin at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
