Mrs. Rita Ann Gilchrist Coupel

Rita Ann Gilchrist Coupel passed away into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father at the age of 89 on December 26, 2014 to be with her husband Rene James Coupel. Preceded in death by her parents Louis Joseph Gilchrist and Winnie LaBauve Gilchrist, son Ranny, brothers J.L., Norman, Lloyd Sr., sisters Yvonnne Wells and Brenda Gautreaux. She is survived by her children Frank Coupel (Kathleen), Sandra Wixom (Clyde), Wayne Coupel, Monica Buras (Keith, deceased), Keith Coupel, Annette Beal (Howard), Marilyn Bridges (Lee) and Rene John Coupel (Serina). Brothers James, William, Elmo, Ronald, Lee, and her sister Theresa Salvato. Her legacy and memory will live on in her 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. A native of Plaquemine, Louisiana and resident of St. Bernard Parish for 54 years, she lived her life raising and caring for her family. Rita loved spending her free time gardening with and around her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
