Robert E. Ducombs of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in New Orleans on September 5. 1931, Robert was the son of Romaine and Lillian Ducombs. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1961, served in the United States Navy Reserve for eight years, and enjoyed a long career with Fireman's Fund Insurance and Chrysler before retiring in 1995.
Robert was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he faithfully served as an elder. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, quiet strength, kind heart, and deep love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Romaine and Lillian Ducombs, and his brothers, Romaine and Ronald Ducombs. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mildred Allen Ducombs: his daughters, Rhonda Ducombs Baudoin and her husband, Michael, and Rachel Ducombs Chappetta and her husband, Tony; his sisters-in-laws, Diane and Yvonne Ducombs; his grandchildren, Kelsi Hernandez (Brandon), Jonathan Baudoin, Anthony Chappetta IV, and Jacob Chappetta; his great-grandsons, Branson, Brantley, and Brady; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Robert's faith, gentle spirit, and love for his family will be remembered always.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 9:30 AM- 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
