Roselyn Mary Hansen

Roselyn "Rose" Mary Hansen passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a devout Catholic who found great strength in her faith during difficult times.

Rose was born in New Orleans and spent her childhood in Chalmette before graduating from Andrew Jackson High School. She obtained a nursing degree from Touro School of Nursing. She spent most of her career working as a school nurse for St. Bernard Parish Public Schools, where she cared for countless children with patience and kindness.

Rose was predeceased by her beloved mother, Catherine Lee Hansen; her father, William Jacob Hansen; sister, Sylvia Hansen Bassett; brother-in-law, Earl Charles Bassett and her godson, Kevin Carter Bassett (Dawn).

She is survived by her brothers, William Anthony Hansen (Patty) and Gary Anthony Hansen (Karen); her nieces, Stacy Bassett Marino (Amedeo), Kelly Hansen Martinez (Patrick) and Kristy Lynn Hansen; and her nephews, David Michael Hansen and Sean Patrick Hansen (Caroline). Rose is also survived by grand nieces and nephews.

Rose cherished times spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
