Samuel Dominick Gaeta Sr.

Samuel Dominick Gaeta Sr., a Veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the age of 83. He was the beloved husband of Betty June Hoolahan Gaeta. Loving father of Karen Gaudet (Bruce), Sharon Rose Gaeta Graham (Willie), Sam Gaeta Jr. (Pamela) and Danny Gaeta Sr. (Toni). Son of the late Peter and Rosa Bondi Gaeta. Brother of Mary Ann Jones, Josie “Lal” Hopkins and the late Danny Gaeta, Joe Gaeta Sr. and Dominick Gaeta Sr. He is also survived and fondly remembered by 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 5 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Samuel was a native of Maringouin, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Covington, LA. He was a past Master Mason in the Linn Wood Lodge No. 167 F&AM, and a retired Boilermaker for Buck Kreihs Marine Inc. He believed in hard work and treasured his time with friends and family, whether it was gardening, farming, fishing, hunting, or just enjoying the company of those he loved. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by his family and by all those whose lives he touched. He helped make this world a better place.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, October 25th from 9:30AM – 11:30AM. A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA beginning at 12:00PM. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
