Sharon Riche Melancon

Sharon Riche Melancon passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the age of 61. She walked by faith as a devoted Catholic and lived for her husband, her two daughters, their spouses and her four grandchildren. Sharon was the beloved wife of Walter Levi Melancon for 42 years. She was the loving mother of Tonya Melancon Hill (the late Devin) and Amanda Melancon Reilly (Brent). Proud Maw-Maw of Abram Hill, Liam Reilly, August Hill and Ella Reilly. Cherished daughter of the late Lloyd A. Riche and the late Savella “Sue” Stann Riche. Devoted sister to Karen Hansen (Gary), Bryan Riche (the late Sonya) and the late Eric “Ricky” Riche. Cherished daughter-in-law of Henry Charles Melancon and Lena Marcello Melancon. Beloved sister-in-law to Charles Melancon, Janice Melancon Graci (Guy) and Gail Melancon Perniciaro (Joe). Aunt to Jason Riche, David Hansen, Barry Graci, Kristy Hansen, Stephanie Riche Wust and Stacy Riche Roy. She will also be fondly remembered and terribly missed by her great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Sharon was a lifelong residence of St. Bernard Parish, she appreciated her close-knit community and never had the desire to leave even after Hurricane Katrina. She was an incredibly generous woman who had a contagious laugh that would fill a room. Sharon enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, cross-stitching and watching comedy shows. She adored her grandkids and her greatest joy was spending time with them, whether it was at the ballpark, dance revues or just hanging at home with them. The simplest pleasures in life brought her happiness, especially relaxing on the beach with her family every year. She will be deeply missed by us all but her memory will live forever in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY of PROMPT SUCCOR, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, LA on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
