Tommy began work at 16 years old at Buck Kreihs Company and worked there till he retired in 2019 after 57 years of service. He rose through the company ranks from an apprentice machinist to one of the company's supervisors throughout his tenure.
Stepping in as the family's patriarch very early on, he fiercely protected his own and those who unofficially became his own, giving to anyone in need. He was known to open his home to all. In times of good health, his love was the water, spending hours with his fishing buddies, his mother, or his nephews. He was also fond of losing every poker hand and day trips to local casinos.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy, his son, Matthew (Becky), daughter, Christal, grandchildren: Kaden, Logan, Landon, and Larkin, sister, Sandra Bishop (Irving), goddaughter Loey, and nieces and nephews who became daughters and sons: Tina, Brandon, Ethan, Adam, Nicholas, Tiffany, Willie, and Joe, as well as countless more who grew up under his watchful eye. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lulu, who would find it incredibly upsetting if she were not mentioned here among the relatives.
Tommy was preceded in death by both his mother and father and his two brothers, Rene and Baron.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held in his memory at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow.
