Vanessa Basco Sylvia

October 1, 1961August 7, 2018

Vanessa Basco Sylvia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the age of 56. She was the cherished wife of the late Stanley S. Sylvia. Beloved mother of Jeremy Sylvia (Joanna) and Amy E. Sylvia. Daughter of the late Samuel Basco and Rowena Roby Basco. Sister of Elaine Collins, Shirley Houser (Donnie), Kendra Quinn, Samantha Dickens (Bruce), Eddie Sabo (Tiffany) and the late Rachael Sabo. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and her furbabies Mia, Scruffy, Zoey, Cody and her grand-furbaby Sophie. Vanessa was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She was strong in her faith with God and found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. She loved her furbabies, her rum punch, butterflies in the backyard, her trips to the casino, celebrating carnival and festivals and just about any excuse to spend time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her family, her loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling her furbabies. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at World Prayer Tabernacle, 4030 Paris Rd, Chalmette, LA Saturday, August 18th from 10:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a funeral service in Vanessa’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.

Vanessa was such a good and gentle person. What I remember most about her is she always seen the best in people. Vanessa never judged anybody, she had a kind heart.
Vanessa was my friend and I will miss her so much. Rest in peace my friend, we will meet again.

Amy, Jeremy, and Vanessa's entire family,

Vanessa was one of the sweetest and kndest people I have ever met. She treated Jeanna like her own while she attended St. Louise with Amy. I remember our last conversation like it was yesterday. She was telling me how proud she was of her children. She also tolkd me how strong Amy is. There was not a time I spoke with Vanessa that she did not speak of Stanley or her children.. Vanessa, You will be terribly missed. I love you...

I am so sad to hear of Vanessa’s passing, I worked with Vanessa at 2 different medical practices, she was always a kind and gentle person. It was so nice to reconnect with her in 2016 through Facebook and catch up on old times. She fought a long and tough battle but now is at peace and free of pain with the love of her life.🙏❤️
