Velma “Maw” “GiGi” Barcia passed away on March 11, 2023 at the age of 94. Loving wife of Anthony Barcia for over 74 years. Caring mother to Cheryl Barcia, Gayle Easter (Fred Jr.) and Toni Ann Gaeta; grandmother to Heath Barcia, Julie Mayer, Daniel Gaeta Jr., Tressie Easter and the late Fred Easter III; great grandmother to Ashley Phillips, Lindsey Mayer, Jean Cancienne, Trinity Easter, Christopher Ansardi, Mikaela Gaeta, Dylan Culotta, Colby Culotta, Fred Easter IV, John Dewberry and Aubrey Gaeta; great great grandmother to Wrenley Culotta. She is preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Clarence Deckwa; her siblings, Bunny, Melva, Lola, Cora, Erica, Harry and Clarence Jr.
Velma was a member of the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 3706 of Chalmette and also a member of V. F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 5174 of Pearl River. She enjoyed dancing, singing, playing card game 31, bingo and going to the casino with family. She had many friends and was the life of the party. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
