He was married to the love of his life Diane for 34 years raising their family in St Bernard.
VJ loved to be on the water spending his spare time shrimping, fishing and crabbing with Diane always at his side. He also took pride in working on projects in his shop and caring for his beloved miniature horses. He was a proud member of the Masons, Moses Cook Lodge #111.
Vic is survived by his doting older sister Janice Ricks Linam. His legacy lives on through his beloved children Victor Schmit, III and his wife Rachel, Dana Fraychineaud and her husband Paul and Karen Lagasse and her husband Scott.
