Victoria H. Swanner

Victoria “Vicky” Helen Swanner entered eternal life on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the age of 74. She was the loving mother of Joseph Calvin Long, Jr. (Jennifer Schultz Long); proud grandmother of Olivia Noelie Long, Brooklyn Elizabeth Long, Breannah Elizabeth Long, and Dustin Anthony DiVincenti; sister of Ann Swanner Wonycott, Michael Swanner (Linda), Dora Swanner Mumphrey (Charles), and the late Gail Swanner; aunt of Angel Wonycott Kytle (Chris), Tara Mumphrey Jackson, Michael Swanner, and Christopher Swanner; and great-aunt of Blake and Dustin Kytle, and Marcus and Dylan Jackson. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, the late Bertha Lee Curry Swanner and Joshua Bruce Swanner. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends.

Vicky graduated from F. T. Nicholls High School in 1967 and worked as a manager in the telecommunications industry. She was a woman of great faith and was an active member of Celebration Church. She enjoyed crafting – especially making wreaths – but she was never happier than when spending time with her grandchildren, who were her whole world. Her family will miss her dearly but will take comfort in her repeated words, “I’m good, and I am not afraid. I know where I am going, and I am at peace with that.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at CELEBRATION CHURCH, 7500 W. JUDGE PEREZ DRIVE, in Arabi, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, in New Orleans.
