Violet Borne Cure

Violet Borne Cure, age 98, passed away peacefully after an extended illness. Being a loving wife, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, the late Earl “Toby” Bruno Cure, Sr. She achieved many things in her lifetime. The most important, to her, was being a loving mother and mother-in-law to Ronald Guelfo, Earl Bruno Jr., Pollyanna Alfonso (Chris), Daniel Sr. (Deanne), and Tobie Forte. Waiting in Heaven for her is her daughter, the late Beverly Guelfo, her grandson, the late Dickey Cure, and her devoted husband, known affectionately as “Daddy,” “Pawpaw,” and “Poppa Toby.”

Violet leaves behind her grandchildren, Michelle Dupuy, Stephanie Serio, Chad, Brad, and Chris Jr. Alfonso, Daniel Jr. and Ryan Cure, Melissa Burnes, and Jodi Forte; and her great-grandchildren, Blair and Peyton Dupuy, Michael, Dante, and Geovanni Serio, Dylan Cure, Ty, Chad Jr, Toby, and Adelaide Alfonso, Destinee, Bryson, and Zoe Cure, and Hayley, Ethan, and Jackson Gereighty, each known and loved by MawMaw Violet. She also has great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Patsy Meyers, and Shirley Lachney. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Claude and Lillian Borne; by her sisters, the late Lilly Mae Adragna, and Rosemary Priest; and by her brothers, the late Harold, Marvin, Gerald, Donald, Lloyd, Ray, Sidney, Norman, and Carroll Borne.

Violet was a longtime employee of the St. Bernard Parish School Board. A devoted wife and mother, she lived her life to the fullest around family and friends, enjoying simple pleasures. Her smile and sense of humor added comfort and tenderness to each person around her. Violet leaves her loving memories to be cherished by all of her many family members and friends, and her spirit will live in the hearts of her family forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 7, 2022, at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A funeral mass will be held in her memory at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, in lower St. Bernard.
