Wayne Bradford Dear, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021, at his home in Chalmette, LA, at the age of 69. He is survived by his loving companion of 22 years, Kathy Sakowski; his two sons, Wayne Bradford Dear, Jr. and Joshua Adam Dear; and his sister, Sherron Dear Bauer. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, the late Nadine and Merl Dear. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and the children of Kathy Sakowski; Suzie Jabbia (Todd), Stanley Sakowski, III (Gretchen), and Heather Sakowski; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Wayne loved his companion, his family, cruises, the casino, his 1964 Chevy Impala, and all of his friends. He worked at Amax Nickel Refinery for many years, and Domino Sugar Refinery for 20 years until recently retiring.
The family expresses their gratitude to his friends for all the love and support they provided and to the nurses and staff at Canon Hospice, for their excellent care. Wayne will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all the lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a gathering on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in his memory at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Please be mindful that properly worn masks are required while inside the funeral home unless actively eating or drinking.
