Mr. Wayne Joseph Mendoza Sr.

On Saturday April 21, 2018, Wayne Joseph Mendoza, Sr. passed away. He was 63 years old, and a long time resident of Chalmette. Loving father of Summer Ortego (Mike), Sara Mendoza, Wayne J. Mendoza, Jr. (Brittany) and SFC Derick R. Mendoza. Grandfather of Taylor Mendoza, Victoria Ortego, Joy Barthelemy, Imani Bodden and Alaya Bodden. Great-grandfather of Brody Mendoza and Jade Barthelemy. Brother of Jesse Mendoza (Toni), Liz Guerra (Yogi), retried NOPD Cpt. Harry Mendoza, LTC Euclid Talley (Kristie), Margo Mendoza and the late Jerri Dale Spilberger (Kevin) and retired NOPD Sgt. Theron “Tony” Mendoza. Ex-Husband of Donna Koski, Lisa Allen, and the late Janell Serpas and Doreen Roger. He was predeceased by his daughter, Chrissy Mendoza; his parents, Anita Pohl and Harry Mendoza, and by his Step-Mother Mae Mendoza. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a member of The International Longshore Association Local 1802, better known as the “Water Boys.” Wayne had a natural zest for life that was evident to all who knew him. He loved fast cars, fast motorbikes and fast women. He was always high on life, and was never seen without a smile on his face.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE ST., in Chalmette, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a service in his honor at 1:00 PM.
