

Carl was born July 27, 1944 in Chambersburg, PA. He was the son of the late Dwight Bender and the late Ruth Rosenberry Bender-Watson, and step son to the late Howard Watson.
He is survived by his companion Linda Kane, son Curtis Bender and wife Dee Dee; grandchildren Amber Propst and husband Tanner, Allie Kelly and husband Brendan, and David Dinges and significant other Kayla Hill; great grandchildren Natalie Propst and Callen Propst; sister, Judy Gearhart; niece, Michelle Small and nephew Kenny Gearhart; and former wife and mother to Curtis, Linda Goshorn. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carl retired from Kyners Auto Sales in Chambersburg. Over the years he held different jobs including Grove Manufacturing, Reynolds and Reynolds (formerly Arnold Graphics) and also worked on a farm.
Carl was a lifetime member of Chambersburg Fire Department and a member of the West End Fire Department, Station 15, Shippensburg, PA.
Carl was also a member of the marching band Free Staters out of Chambersburg, PA where he loved to play the drums. He also enjoyed playing the organ and singing.
Carl enjoyed going with his son, Curtis, to tractor pulls for many years at the Buck Motorsports Park, and other local areas in PA, MD, WV and VA and several trips to Bowling Green, OH for the National Tractor Pulling Championships. They also enjoyed dirt track sprint car racing at Williams Grove Speedway, Mechanicsburg, PA.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday March 7, 2025 at Park Lawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
