Born February 18, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. DeHart and Hazel E. (Mull) DeHart.
Shirley attended Chambersburg Area High School and later earned her GED. A talented and licensed beautician, she proudly owned and operated Shirley Tolbert’s Beauty Salon for 30 years.
Shirley brought beauty into the world in countless ways—not only through her work in the salon, but also through painting, ceramics, sewing, and her genuine care for others. She had a deep love for God’s creation and found joy in animals, birds, and the vibrant colors of the sky. She especially cherished her dog, Kipper, who brought her much happiness.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shirley treasured her family and the life they built together. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 64 years, Kenneth J. Tolbert; two daughters, Michelle L. Graham and her husband, Bartley, of Chambersburg, PA, and Angela T. Gorman and her husband, Jeffrey, of Elizabethtown, PA; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, and one grandson.
There will be no public funeral. Private burial will be held at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, PA.
