

Harold Albert Tesch - age 85, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ. Known to most people by his nickname, "Al" was born to William and Carolyn (Van derMallie) Tesch in Penfield, NY on October 21, 1924. Leaving school at an early age, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the height of WW II and served as a dog scout. His military service is among those portrayed in "Wardogs of the Pacific", a documentary by Harris Done, which is available through Amazon.com. His platoon made landings on Guam and on Iwo Jima where Al received the Purple Heart for injuries that he sustained. Upon his separation from the military in 1945, Albert returned to New York where he married Ruth Eichler and started his own successful construction company. Al and Ruth retired to Colorado in the 80's and eventually to Arizona nearly six years ago.
Al is survived by his children; Wayne (Diane) Tesch, Costa Mesa, CA, Gary Tesch, Greeley, CO and Judy (Bill) Housley, Maricopa, AZ; grandchildren, Renee Schroder, Richland WA, SPC Nathan Housley, Ft. Detrick, MD and Amanda Housley, Maricopa, AZ; his great-granddaughters, McKenzie and Katie Schroder; and by his sister, Arlene Manning of E. Rochester, NY.
Graveside services will be conducted 9:00 AM Monday, August 30, 2010 with military honors. In accordance with Al's wishes and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Royal Family Kids Camp, Inc., 3000 W. MacArthur Blvd. Suite 412, Santa Ana, CA 92704.
