Allan Noel Schaefer was born December 25, 1939, in Rochester, Minnesota. His parents were William and Margaret Schaefer of Adams, MN. Allan spent his childhood years there and graduated from Adams High School in 1957. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in history at St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN in 1961 and a Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 1968. He married Betty Bajari on August 25, 1962.
Allan’s career in secondary education began at St. Bernard’s High School in St. Paul, MN, and encompassed 19 years teaching high school history, economics, German, and other subjects in Minnesota, Illinois and Richland Center, Wisconsin. He later served as principal and superintendent for four school districts in Minnesota and Wisconsin before retiring in Sun Lakes, Arizona where he was a licensed realtor for several years. Allan passed away on January 26, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Survivors include his wife, Betty and their four children and spouses: Mike (Lindy) Schaefer of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; Bill |(Mary Lou) Schaefer of Houston, Texas; Pat (Trish) Schaefer of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; and Sarah (Joe) Lange of Theresa, New York as well as five grandchildren: Erick (Aly) Lange of San Antonio, TX; Mikhail Schaefer of Wauwatosa, WI; Allison Lange of Theresa, NY; Burke and Kendall Schaefer of Sun Prairie, WI; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Lange of San Antonio, TX.
The interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams, Minnesota on February 14.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for the establishment of a scholarship in Allan’s name at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.
