

Alloys G. "Al" Myers, age 89, passed away on February 11, 2016 in Gilbert, AZ with his family at his side. Al was born in Frost, Minnesota on 8/19/1926, the son of Alvin and Mabel Myers. He is survived by his wife, Eve, son Douglas of Hastings, NE., Mark (Joy) of Grand Island, NE., and daughter Karen (Robert) Cox of Gilbert, AZ., 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and by one brother Thomas. After graduating high school Al enlisted in the Navy in 1944, and was trained as a radio operator. When the war was over Al attended Kansas City Watchmakers College where he earned the degree of watchmaker. With additional schooling and training, Al learned the art of setting diamonds and was an excellent gold craftsman. After graduation he began his career in the jewelry business in Hastings, NE. In 1966 Al established his own business, Imperial Jewelers, which is still in operation and owned and operated by his granddaughter. Through the years singing was a large part of his life. His love of music began with high school music competitions which opened the doors to Barbershop chorus and quartets, church choirs, singing for weddings and funerals and even for the President of the United States when he was a member of the choir at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Michigan. Upon his retirement he moved to San Antonio, Texas and resided there for 15 years before moving to Phoenix, AZ. Memorial service will be held at Valley of the Sun Chapel, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ on Sat. February 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Private inurnment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at a later time.
