Obituary of Bessie Alice Wells
IN THE CARE OF

Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery

Bessie Alice Wells passed away on December 24, 2024 at the age of 87 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born to the late Albert and Anna Mowery in Monroe Township, Ohio on October 24, 1937. She was immersed in the Methodist community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Bessie met her husband, Neil Allen Wells, while working at the Standard Register Co. in Dayton, Ohio as a production coordinator. Bessie and Neil married in 1962 in Huntsville, Alabama and shared 62 wonderful years together. They weren’t just husband and wife, they were truly best friends and evening walking buddies.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was known for her impeccable fashion sense and love for decorating, always adding beauty to every room. Her timeless and classic style will be deeply missed. She had a work ethic that was admired by all who knew her. Bessie took pride in keeping everything impeccable from her appearance to the garage. Everything had a place. Her son, Scott Allen, was her greatest accomplishment and her proudest moments were telling others about him.

She truly adored her three grandchildren: Caroline, Connor and Cameron, as their pictures were displayed everywhere throughout her home. Her love for them will be forever and always. Bessie‘s yearly highlight was joining her family on trips to San Diego, California. She also enjoyed partaking in all the family fun in Phoenix, Arizona where Scott and his family reside.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Neil. She is survived by her son, Scott Allen, and his wife, Jill Renee; grandchildren, Caroline Ann, Connor Allen, and Cameron Scott. Bessie was blessed to have a loving husband who cared for her as she battled dementia. She will be remembered as a strong woman with a contagious laugh. The love and memory of Bessie shall never pass away. A celebration of Bessie‘s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pathway to Work, https://azpathwaytowork.org/donate a cause close to Bessie’s heart. This non profit organization is a meaningful program for her grandson, Connor.
