Betty was born on September 20th, 1929 to Ann Jane and Samual Joseph May in Hollywood, California. She was the younger sister to her brothers, Walt and Charles May. After graduating from University High School in 1947, she went on to Santa Monica College and earned an Associate's Degree in 1950. Betty spent a lot of time at the beach with her college friends and her love of the beach remained with her forever!
She became an Administrative Assistant at Airesearch in California, where she met Chuck Chinn, who became her long time husband. They wed in Phoenix on June 22nd, 1956 and they had three sons.
When Betty had her children, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother! This passion carried on throughout her whole life. She was kind and understanding, never missing a special event. She became a homeroom mother for her children at the beginning of their elementary school years. She also became a teacher's aide at her grandchildren's school and was a very frequent, much loved babysitter for them.
Betty's passion for her kids/grandkids extended to all children. In 1986 she became a teacher's assistant for the daycare program at Saint Mathews Episcopal Church in Chandler for several years. She became a teacher's assistant, lunchroom monitor, and crossing guard for Goodman Elementary School in Chandler until her healthy retirement age of 80 years old!
Betty is survived by her sons, Gregory (eldest) and his wife Brenda, and their children Traci and Anatoly, Bryant (middle son), and Bob (youngest son) and his children Andrew and Brent. She is also survived and loved by her step daughter Rose Penn-Brethen and her husband Craig, along with Roses children James, Jennifer, Joanna, and Jacqueline, and also Bettys' nieces, nephews, and friends.
