"Betty Jane Jorgensen, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Betty was born and raised in Wray, Colorado to Frederic and Elizabeth Adcock on September 30, 1933. She was proud of her small town upbringing and still, after all these years, maintained beautiful friendships with several childhood friends. Betty attended the University of Colorado to follow her passion of becoming a teacher and enjoyed teaching for 15 years at the Montessori School in Mesa, AZ. For many years, she was a dedicated homemaker raising her children, Bill, Christy and Sheri in La Mirada and Whittier, CA and had fond memories of the many close friends she had kept a friendship with after moving to AZ in 1978.

She was happily married to Glen Jorgensen, deceased, for 38 years and was thrilled to add Glen’s children, Karen, Keene, Kathleen and Kurt to her family. She and Glen enjoyed playing table games, golf, and cooking and entertaining family and friends.

Betty enjoyed playing golf, bridge, mah-jongg, doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku and recently, she became an dedicated Words with Friends player. She was an avid artist and painter, sharing this passion with her twin sister Patty. Betty loved helping others and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter AF in Chandler, AZ for many years and also a member of the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. Betty is survived by her twin-sister Patty Newcomer (Bob), son William Blackwill (Justina), daughter Sheri Harder (Duane), step-children Karen Rossi (Ron), Kathleen Sauder and Kurt Jorgensen (Mary). She had 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and found so much joy in spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Jorgensen, daughter Christy Blackwill, step-son Keene Jorgensen and grand-son Forrest Touchstone.

Betty had a tender heart and giving spirit and always saw the good in everyone and every situation. She will be missed by all. Celebration of Life service to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 3:00pm at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 E. Riggs Road, Chandler, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to P.E.O. Chapter AF, c/o Kathy Olney, 695 W. Beechnut Drive, Chandler, AZ 85248."

I will always remember the fun times spent at Betty's cabin in AZ. The walks in the rain, the laughing around the table playing card games and her beautiful smile and laughing eyes. She always spoke with love and how PROUD she was of all her kids and grand kids. She was witty and fun to talk with, she was so knowledgeable on many subjects but wasn't arrogant. I remember painting beautiful rocks.I still have a rock from one of our trips. She was so giving and kind,I am so sorry for the loss of her.

Such heart warming memories of Betty as we took our walks with other women here in Bear Flat where they owned a cabin for years. At first I could only tell Betty & Patty apart by Patty's dog, then I knew that her twin sister was Betty. We enjoyed celebrating our birthddays together up here and playing dominoes and great conversations on our walks. She will be missed. God bless her family here and in heaven. Love, Dara & Phon Sutton , Bear Flat. Az.
