Born in New Ulm, MN on July 15, 1937. A long-term resident of Lompoc, California, she left this world on August 13, 2026, at the age of 89 in Prescott Valley, AZ.
Survived by her children Kathryn (David De Lira) Steinbach; Stanley (Cindy) Steinbach; Connie (Ron Talley) Steinbach; Sherri Steinbach, Kenneth Steinbach Jr; seven grandchildren Matthew (Adii) Steinbach, Kristen (Alex) Turner, Rachel Steinbach, Kayla Forrest; Kyle Forrest; Alan (Jaswin) De Lira and Peter De Lira; and nine great-grandchildren Ryan, Holden, Brooklyn, Ben, Brynn, Bo, Baker, Campbell and Azaziah. She was predeceased by her parents John and Anne Terhofter, brother Earl (Marlys) Terhofter and sister Lois Coy.
Betty grew up in New Ulm MN and moved to southern CA when she was 17. She married the love of her life, husband Ken when she was 18 and raised her family including 5 children in Lompoc CA and then later in San Jose, CA. She was a strong catholic and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She loved spending time with her family and watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Betty and her husband Ken retired back in Lompoc where they enjoyed playing cards, going to church and making peanut butter cookies for their children and grandchildren’s visits. Betty also loved playing BINGO, occasional slot machines, bowling, watching baseball and was a huge San Francisco Giants fan.
Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had physical challenges, but her strong faith, inner strength and determination helped her overcome those as she was a compassionate caregiver to her husband Ken in his later years.
