Born August 20, 1938 in Hawesville, Kentucky to Maxwell Couty and Thelma Rhodes Couty, Bobby was the middle child of seven and surrounded by his siblings Dorothy, Maxwell, Cleatus, Kathy, Connie, and Judith.
At the young age of 18, Bobby was a race car driver of a ‘57 Chevy Bel Air and during this same year, he competed and won 26 out of 27 drag racing events. He always sought out where there was a car in need of attention. He was known for making a deal on cars that either needed mechanical work, paint or polish, investing the time, and then turning a profit! Bobby had a love of cars, and truth be told, it is said that he owned 79 cars throughout his lifetime.
Bobby served his country proudly and was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran and retired as an Air Force MSGT after 22 years of service. He pursued a second career working in civil service as a Quality Control Inspector at Williams Air Force Base before his final retirement in Chandler, Arizona.
Bobby is survived by his wife Mitchell Ann Couty and his two children Bob G. Couty, Jr., JoAnna L. Davis and his daughter-in-law Laura Couty. Bobby and Mitchell were married for 60 wonderful years, and his warmest stories were those that he shared of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be missed and forever loved by his grandchildren Shanelle Palmer, Kristain Patterson, Myles Davis, Jaxon Davis, Sean Couty and Taylor Couty. His great grandchildren Hailee, Michael, Nykol, and Kathleen will all grow up hearing about his funny stories which he loved to share, his passion and love for cars, and his dedicated service to our country.
We love you Pops. You will be missed forever.
