Carmen Miller, age 72, of Sun Lakes Arizona passed away on June 1, 2021.

Carmen was born Carmen Rae on June 5, 1948 to Bernice and Leo Grau in Storm Lake, Iowa. Carmen was baptized, confirmed, and attended Nain Lutheran Church in Newell Iowa. Carmen was active in school with her studies, school plays, played clarinet and basketball. She graduated from Newell High School.

On June 13, 1987 she was united in marriage to Barry Miller in Baltimore, Maryland. They moved to Sun Lakes Arizona in 1996. They were blessed with owning two dogs Angel and Fluffy who gave birth to nine puppies Cody, April, Mimi, Bella, Sadie then Mollie, Sugar, Lily and Daisy . They shared the puppies with their neighbors in Sun Lakes and Chandler AZ. They were also blessed with cockatiel birds Buddy in Maryland and Happy and Sunshine who gave birth to Buddy Jay who was born in their home and now is 20 years old.

Carmen graduated from Johnston School of Practical Nursing in 1988 in Baltimore Maryland and Catonsville College in Catonsville, Maryland with a Registered Nursing Degree. She worked as a RN at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland for six years serving in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and as a Private Registered Nurse (PRN) Chandler Regional Hospital for nineteen years. Carmen was honored on her 10th anniversary at Chandler Regional Hospital. It was stated that she was beloved by all her patients and as being so kind, loving and one of their favorite nurses.

Carmen was a sweet, loving, caring person who unconditionally cared deeply for her family and friends. Carmen looked after Barry’s father when in Baltimore, and Carmen’s mother and father when they needed care. Carmen enjoyed traveling, taking long walks, gardening, exercising, swimming, music, dancing, and reading. She supported her husband Barry with Disc Jockey parties, weddings, and dances. She also enjoyed filming all of Barry’s events with the doo wop groups Time and Time Again and Yesterday Once More. It gave her great pleasure to watch them sing and dance on stage.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Barry, sister Sharon (Thurman) of Sun Lakes, Arizona; brother Tom of Newell IA. brother-in-law Ira (Karen) Pikesville MD, brother in- law Michael (Marguerite) North Las Vegas NV, nephew Justin (Chandra) Gilbert; niece Michelle (Tyler) Hendricks; nieces Gerri (Erez) Miller; Tara (Ian) Rakow; Great nieces and nephews L Gilbert; twins Jaxson Leo and Caleb John Hendrix; Yarden and Liana; Zac and Zev; along with Aunt Dorothy Stilling North Ridge California; and many cousins; extended family and friends.

May we find comfort knowing Carmen is at peace joining her parents Leo and Bernice Grau; sister in-law Cheryl Grau; Barry’s parents Julius and Geraldine Miller and all her aunts and uncles, family and friends.
