Carmen Lopez Ortiz, a devoted and generous individual, passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 25, 1941, in Sena, New Mexico, Carmen was the middle child of seven children. Throughout life, Carmen was known for being hard-working and faithful, always eager to keep busy.
Carmen's career was marked by a strong work ethic, having worked for many places and constantly seeking to stay active. This dedication was evident in both professional and personal endeavors.
Carmen was married to Richard P. Ortiz, who passed away in 1972. Later, Carmen married Leandro Lara, who also predeceased her in 2002. Carmen was a loving mother, raising one daughter, Elizabeth, and two sons, Richard and Clifford.
In personal life, Carmen cherished the time spent reading the bible and prayer book, and was known to be a very good cook. Carmen took great joy in spending time with granddaughters and great-grandchildren, creating cherished memories.
Carmen is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (John) Martinez; sons, Richard and Clifford Ortiz; Granddaughters: Ilyssa, Angelica, Christina, Rebekah, and Sarah; and 13 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Holy Catholic Funeral Mass, held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, located at 18700 N St Gabriel Way, Maricopa, Arizona 85138, on September 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The viewing at the church will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Carmen Lopez Ortiz will be remembered fondly for the generosity and devotion shown throughout life.
