Carol Frye Kersten went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2017, with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her brother David, six children and their spouses, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol was born in Sturgis, MI, on November 24, 1931. Her parents were David and Ruby Frye of Port Huron MI. She married Robert Kersten on October 7, 1951 in Alma, MI and together they served in many charges in the United Methodist ministry for 35 years. Carol graduated from Marysville HS, and then attended the University of Michigan, Interlochen Music Camp, before receiving her degree in piano performance from Northern Michigan University. The loves of her life were her Lord Jesus, her family and friends, and her music. In addition to raising her 6 children, she was a gifted and passionate musician who shared her love for music with her family and the community. She guided many aspiring musicians as a piano teacher and an educator in a variety of schools while performing regularly in church and other venues. She truly had a song in her heart and shared it with all. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had unconditional love for everyone she met and was a progressive thinker for someone of her generation. Her beautiful smile was infectious. She was a member of Chandler United Methodist Church. A celebration of her life will be at The Gardens at Ocotillo in Chandler, AZ on April 8, 2017 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Chandler United Methodist Church, Chandler, AZ, or BayShore Camp, Sebewaing, MI. Private burial will be at Riverlawn Cemetery in Marysville, MI.
