Carolee was born in Cumberland, MD on November 6, 1944. She was a 1962 graduate of Fort Hill High School and attended Catherman’s Business School. She was an executive secretary at PPG Industries in the engineering department for nine and a half years.
Carolee was a devoted mother, friend, and daughter who helped care for her ailing parents. The family was active at Cornerstone Baptist Church and relocated to Arizona in 1999.
She loved living in the Arizona sunshine and not having to worry about snow. She enjoyed shopping, Italian food, and laughing with her family. She was an active member of Oasis Church of Chandler and loved volunteering in the nursery.
Carolee fought through health issues while continuing to care for her family and be present in their lives. She suffered a major stroke in 2004 and was able to walk down the aisle at her daughter’s wedding three weeks after having brain surgery to remove a tumor. Carolee also helped look after her two grandchildren.
Her beloved husband of forty-three years, Thomas W. Stanton pre-deceased her in August 2016.
She is survived by her son, Kevin G. Stanton, daughter Lisa Adam, son-in-law Gregory Adam, grandchildren Brendan and Elizabeth, as well as brother Robert L. Johnson and his wife Phyllis of Columbus, OH.
The family will be planning a graveside memorial in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
