Cliff was born on a ranch south of Chandler, Arizona on November 26, 1935 to William “Reed” and Buela Anderson. He and younger brother Scott grew up in Tucson under the care of their beloved uncle and aunt – Arnold and Katherine Anderson. Raised as their own, Cliff and Scott couldn’t have asked for more loving parents.
After graduating from Tucson High School, Cliff enlisted in the Marines and served as a wartime veteran in Korea. After the war, he returned to Arizona for a short leave. During this time, under the arrangement of his brother Scott and friend Beverly Kadel, Cliff met the love of his life on a blind date. Shortly thereafter, he and Betty McKelvey were married in 1956. They moved to North Carolina so Cliff could finish his tour of duty. Afterwards, they moved back to Arizona to raise their three sons, Andy, Clifford, and Donald.
The family resided in Tucson, Fort Grant, Chandler and Sun Lakes. Cliff worked a number of jobs including that of a pipe layer for Southwest Gas, a Police Officer for the Tucson Police Department, a Warden for Ft. Grant State Prison, and a Budget Director for Maricopa Superior Courts.
Cliff is survived by his children Andy and wife Maria Collea-Anderson, Clifford and wife Tiffany Anderson, Donald and wife Christina Anderson; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Anderson; grandchildren Lauren Feinberg, Rochelle and Elizabeth Anderson, Noelle and Andy Klein, Clifford (CJ) and Amanda Anderson, James, Holly and Adam Anderson, Joseph, Joshua and Donald Anderson; great grandchildren Aiden, Amelia, Shea, Keegan, and Declan; brother and sister-in-law Scott and Beverley Anderson; nephew Greg and wife Helen Anderson; nephew Steve Anderson; and beloved cousins, Dorothy Ramsey, Margaret, Nick and Nikki Gemrose, and Paula and Mark Ackerman.
Anyone who was acquainted with Cliff, aka “Wayne,” aka “Poppa,” knows what an incredible life he had. He will be greatly missed.
