Darlene Doris Holman

Darlene went home to be with her lord and savior surrounded by her beloved family.

Darlene was born in Kansas City, MO to Kenneth and Velma Knotts, raised in Ottumwa, Iowa, where she graduated from Ottumwa High School. In 1960 she married Ronald Holman and they moved to Omaha, NE in 1967, where she raised her children, Ronda Jo and Scott Alan. The family moved to Chandler, AZ in 1981.

Darlene worked for Qwest Communications until she retired. Never one to let her hands or mind go idle, upon her retirement she began working part-time at Sprouts Markets in the vitamin department, where she was employed for 10 years. She also received a massage therapy license and lived a “Holistic Lifestyle.” As an active member of Arizona Community Church, she enjoyed involvement in the Women's AWE Group, and she served as a Stephen Minister Caregiver for over 10 years in the Stephen Ministries Group. She also volunteered at The Assisted League.

Her family and friends all have special memories of her wonderful meals filled with love, her amazing meatloaf, chocolate chip cookies, and mud pie. "Grammy D" made everything around her special and dedicated her time to those she loved and enjoyed.

She was a genuine person who lived her life with the utmost integrity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Knotts (MaryAnn), sister Diana Morgenski, nephew Jason Morgenski. Survived by her daughter Ronda Loon (Bob), son Scott Holman (Sheila), granddaughters Chaeli Leis (Mike), Samantha Loon, Michaela Loon, Laine Holman and grandson Wilson Holman, five great-grandchildren, sister Sharon Murphy (Jerry), brother-in-law Tom Morgenski, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

In honor of Darlene, please do something kind for someone. To know Darlene was to know the caring heart she had, and this is a fitting tribute to her memory.

A “Celebration of Life” is being planned … but, no date has been determined yet.
