David Melvin McCann

Born on April 12, 1937 in Somerville, Massachusetts, David was the beloved son of Vincent and Edith (Newell) McCann of Lynn, Massachusetts.

In 1955, Dave enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He served with distinction for twenty-two years before retiring in 1977 with the rank of Commander. His time in the service reflected his enduring commitment to helping others and his steadfast sense of duty.

Following his military career, Dave transitioned into business as a financial administrator. He worked in various roles in both Massachusetts and California before retiring to Arizona.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor McCann and his children and stepchildren: David McCann and his wife Robin, Peter McCann and his wife Mary, Julie Klein and her husband Bob, Christopher McCann and his wife Ellen, Brent Hinerichsen and his wife Joan, Katherine Knutson and her husband Michael, and Stacy Schroeder and her husband Dustin. He was preceded in death by previous wives, Constance (Hayes) McCann (the mother of his children) and Jean Tucker-McCann as well as brothers Vincent and Robert McCann.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Stephanie, Amanda, Katelin, David, Nicole, Andrew, Matthew, Jaime, Christopher, Alannah, Julia, Sean, Grace, Amanda, Kimberly, Drake and Brady as well as his great grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Lilly, Emily, Dillon, Jack, Ava and Carter.

Dave leaves behind a legacy his family will carry forward and, above all, be remembered for his dedication to service and his devotion to his family.
