

Dean William Meyer, 85, of Chandler, Arizona passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at his home in Chandler. He was born October 10, 1935 in Howells, Nebraska to John F. and Hattie (Schultz) Meyer. Dean was the youngest of 6 children born to that union. His father passed away suddenly in 1941, and soon after, Dean and his mother moved to So. California to join other family members. He attended Riverside Polytechnic High School and was an outstanding member of ROTC. He graduated in 1953 and was hired by Pacific Telephone as a draftsman, before his conscription into the U.S. Army Corps. Of Engineers in January, 1954. He spent most of his service time in North Africa as a surveyor in the Libyan desert. Upon his return he resumed his very successful career with the telephone company until his retirement in 1985. Dean and his wife moved to Arkansas in 1994, and then to Arizona in 2019.
Dean is survived by his wife of 45 years , Lorna, by 2 sons, John Meyer and David Meyer, by 2 step-sons, Alan Thornton (Kathy), Steve Thornton (Debbie), 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his 5 siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on July 24, 2021 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248.
