Mesa, Arizona - Deonna, 44 concluded her fight with cancer January 16, 2021, at home surrounded by family. She was born December 23, 1976 in Victorville, California, the daughter of David Bernhardt and Susan Perry-Carnahan.
Deonna graduated from Cimarron High School in Las Vegas, Class of 1995. Following graduation, she entered the Air Force and served as an airborne language analyst for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in December, 2016. She served 2 combat tours in Iraq. She married her soulmate, Cody Jacobs, on March 7, 2009. She was a member of her local PTA, Girl Scout, volunteer of the Kansas Humane Society, and volunteer at Boulder Creek Elementary Library. She was an avid green thumb, pet lover, outdoor enthusiast, and most importantly, loved spending time with her family.
Deonna was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend who lived an incredible, adventure-filled life. She was kind, compassionate, fierce, and was a force to be reckoned with. Whether in the air or at home, she commanded a presence with the stunning luminosity that is her personality and love for everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her father, David Bernhardt, and her grandfather, Wayne Perry. She is survived by her loving husband, Cody, her daughter, Brittany; her sons Dalton and Logan; her mother, Susan; step father, Jim; her brother, Jeromy; her in-laws, Greg and Susan, and Terry and Val , and her grandmother, Carole. She leaves behind a step-brother, two-half brothers, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on January 27th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, located at 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, Arizona
An outdoor memorial celebration will be held on January 28th at 2:00 pm at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery, located at 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, Arizona
