Dorothy "Dottie" May Eversole Boyd, age 93, a beloved and devoted Christ Follower, passed away on December 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving children. Dottie was born on December 6, 1932, in Minden, West Virginia.
Dottie spent most of her life in Mogadore, Ohio, where she and John Boyd raised their four children. She is survived by her children: John R. Boyd (Jennifer), Brenda Boyd Jodon (Patrick), Barry W. Boyd (Nancy), and daughter-in-law, Rikkie Boyd. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Jeffrey C. Boyd; her parents, Dewey and Georgia Eversole; her brothers Marvin, William "Ed", and James Eversole; and her sister, Elma Jean Jarrell.
During her years in Ohio, Dottie was active in several hobbies including calligraphy, pottery, golfing, sewing, gardening and was an exceptional cook and baker. She was known for her perfection in anything she put to task. She had the most beautiful handwriting and always sent thoughtful, inspiring cards to her family and friends until she no longer could write at the age of 92. She was meticulously dressed and known for her style, grace, smile and her famous quote, "Pretty is as Pretty does!" She lived that motto!
Dottie attended The Chapel in Akron, Ohio, for almost 25 years, where she was an active member in the singles ministry and where she started her spiritual journey and her deep personal relationship with Jesus.
Dottie worked several years at Snyder Motor Freight before finishing her career at the Ohio Department of Transportation in 2000.
The next chapter came after her retirement from ODOT as she settled in Sun Lakes, Arizona in 2001 to be close to her Arizona family where she enjoyed spending time with family, walking, playing golf, and engaging in Bible studies at her church. Her ministry work at First Baptist Church of Sun Lakes included visitation and taking recorded tapes to those who could no longer attend church services. As well as being a friend to many, she made a difference in the lives of all she knew!
A Memorial Service for Dottie will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 6 at the First Baptist Church, 9535 E Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, Arizona before her interment at Valley of the Sun Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Valley of Arizona for the exceptional care provided to their mother.
