

Lewis C. and Zella Bondurant Dawson, she was their only child. She was preceded in death by her
parents and beloved husband of 40 years, Francis Lee Daniel, ( Danny).
Dorothy went to high school in Palmyra, MO. When she was a senior she was chosen by the student body to be their Football Queen at their home coming. She was a member of the National Honor Society.
After graduation she attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois, she earned her business
degree in 1942. She was a member of the Theta Alpha Chi sorority.
ln 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, Francis L. Daniel (Danny) who was in the Air Force in
California. They were married in her parents home while he was on leave from the Air Force. A short
time later she joined him in California. After the war was over they came back to Quincy, Illinois where
their two daughters were born, Linda Lee and Brenda Kay.
They moved to Palmyra, Mo in 1953 and lived just across the highway from the school where the girls
attended school. ln 1957 they moved to Phoenix, Arizona because of Danny's health. Danny was
employed first by the Salt River Power Company and then later on by the City of Phoenix.
Dorothy was baptized in 1945 at the Central Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois. Upon moving to Phoenix,
Arizona because of her husband's health she became a member of the Elsinore Baptist Church where
she was active in church activities, a Sunday School teacher of children, a Girl's Auxiliary Leader, Training
Union and Sunday School Secretary and Recording Secretary for the church. Again moving, she joined
Royal Palms Baptist Church in Phoenix where she was a teacher of 3 year old children. As a member of
Palmcroft Baptist Church she was a "Greeter'. She came to First Baptist Church of Chandler on the
"Opening Day'' of their new church and later became a member where she also was a "Greeter' and
worked in the Welcome Center.
Dorothy was survived by two daughters Linda and Brenda, Son-in-law Ferry married to Linda. Five Grandchildren Rob, Chris, Jill Scott, and Amber. And six great-grandchildren Kylie, Madison, Lexi, Abby, Kian, and Kaitlyn.
Dorothy was a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy, Thunderbird Chapter #2101, Phoenix, Arizona. She was their treasurer until moving to Chandler.
Her hobbies were crocheting, counted cross stitch, making things for the Welcome Boxes of First Baptist Church but most of all Genealogy, researching her ancestors.
