Edward Michael Mavis

Edward “Eddie” Michael Mavis, 55 of Maricopa, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was born to Joseph and Evangeline Mavis on September 20, 1965. Eddie was raised in Maricopa with his five siblings. He attended and was a graduate of Maricopa High, where he met his wife, Hermalinda, and was a star on the Football field. In his younger days, Eddie loved to box, play basketball, and softball, until his knees said, “no more!”

Together, Eddie and Herma had one daughter, who blessed them with four grandchildren. Eddie enjoyed spending time with and spoiling each of them. When he wasn’t spoiling his grandchildren, you could find Eddie in his man-cave playing darts, scratching lotto tickets, or watching his favorite football team, the Arizona Cardinals. He also enjoyed camping with his family and listening to Elvis.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Evangeline Mavis. He is survived by his wife, Hermalinda Mavis, his daughter Stacie (Richard) Cantu, his grandchildren Marisa, Nevaeh, Sophia, and Joseph “JJ” Cantu, all of Maricopa. Sister Olga Jo (Raymond) Bustos, of Maricopa; Brother Gabriel (Isabel) Mavis, of Chandler; Patricia “Patsy” (Jesse) Perez, of Chandler; Brother Joseph (Cynthia) Mavis, of Payson; and Brother Robert (Monica) Mavis, of Payson.

He will be laid to rest on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Road, in Chandler, AZ. Visitation and Rosary will begin at 10 am, followed by mass at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at 1pm.
