

To Libby, life was an adventure and she lived it to the fullest every single day. Always optimistic, one of her favorite expressions was “Que, Sera’, Sera’ ” (Whatever Will Be, Will Be.) She had great love for her family and her friends. Her family and friends loved her in return.
Libby was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 15, 1926 to Robert Davis Hostetter and Helen Childs Hostetter. After graduating from Oakwood High School in Dayton, she attended Smith College. While at Smith she met and soon married Jerome (“Jerry”) Patterson.
Following Jerry’s service in the U.S. Navy, they settled in Binghamton, New York. Libby was active as a mother and in the community. She served as President of the Binghamton Junior League. In the 1970s, Libby and Jerry moved to Montrose, PA and later moved to Granbury, TX and Midlothian, TX.
Libby and Jerry loved horses. They had horses everywhere they lived. They passed their love for riding and horses to their children and grandchildren.
Soon after Jerry retired, they moved to Goodyear, AZ in 2002. After Jerry’s death, Libby married Reverend Jackson Hazelett of Portland, OR and Happy Trails, AZ. Libby and Jerry were friends of Jack and his deceased wife Barbara. Joining the Hazelett family brought Libby an expanded family and many joyful years before Jack passed away in 2016.
Libby later moved from Goodyear to Gilbert, AZ, residing at Generations at Agritopia, where she gained many friends and happy years before her death.
Libby is survived by her children: Tony Patterson and his wife Marylou of Whitefish, MT; Mark Patterson and his wife Sherri of Windsor, SC; Rob Patterson of Austin, TX; and Liz White and her spouse Mike Tibbetts of Gilbert, AZ; step-children Stafford Hazelett and his wife Nancy of Aloha, OR; Marcus Hazelett of Forest Grove, OR; Kerry Hazelett and his wife Josie of Oakland, CA; Tabi Hazelett Becker and her husband Pat of Tualatin, OR; and Alysa Hazelett Hilton and her husband Larry of Milwaukie, OR. She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom were her greatest blessing and happiness.
Libby’s family expresses their thanks to Sunland Home Care & Medical of Mesa, AZ, especially Dixie and Jessica for the great care and concern they gave Libby.
