Elizabeth Ann Shiel

Our mother Elizabeth (Betty) Shiel was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on September 19,1934. She passed away on February 9, 2022. She was the 10th child born of 11 in her family. She grew up in Roselle and Rahway, New Jersey, and was blessed with having a large, loving Irish family with whom she was very close. She met our late father George Shiel at a New Years Eve party in New Jersey. They married, had three children, and shared 65 wonderful years together.

She was a beautiful, kind, funny, generous person as well as a nurturing and deeply caring mother. She loved her husband, children and family more than anything. Nothing made her more happy than family dinners and get togethers. She loved to sing, dance, cook, do crossword puzzles, arts and crafts and play the slots in Laughlin, Nevada. She enjoyed her retirement in her Arizona community, had many wonderful friends and loved her membership with the Irish Club. Affectionately referred to as Betty Boop by most of her family and friends, she collected an extensive amount of Betty Boop memorabilia that was admired and enjoyed by all.

Our mother is survived by her son George and daughters Jeanne and Betty Ann; grandchildren, George, Jennifer, Michael, Ryan and Danica; great grandchildren, Christian, Jaelyn, Journey, Alexis, Olivia, Memphis, Ryder, Parker, Crosby and Gwenyth. She was preceded in death by her husband George and her grandson Ricky.
