

complications from multiple myeloma. Ella was born on November 2,
1925 in Eureka, South Dakota to John J. and Christina (Holzworth)
Stabler. She married Ervin Meidinger on October 14, 1945 in Eureka,
S.D., where she began her lifelong career in banking. Most of her
successful career as a woman in banking was spent at Campbell County
Bank in Herreid, S.D. After retirement she and Erv moved to Pierre,
S.D. to be near their family, and Ella worked at American State Bank,
following her passion into retirement. Later they moved to Watertown,
S.D., again to be by family, and Ella’s final years were spent in
Chandler, Ariz., moving once more to be with family. She is survived
by her son Jim Meidinger (Lorrie) of Chandler, Ariz. and by her
daughter Jan Hilderbrand (Robert) of Chandler, Ariz. She is also
survived by her grandchildren Jeff Meidinger (Jennifer) of Washington
D.C., Kelley Lawrence (T.J.) of Chandler, Ariz. and Elizabeth Schmidt
(Timo) of Braunschweig, Germany, along with five great grandchildren:
four boys (Dylan and Blake Lawrence and Logan and Austin Schmidt) and
a redhead (Addison Meidinger). Ella is also survived by a sister, Erna
Gross of Aberdeen, S.D. She was preceded in death by her husband
Ervin, one daughter Vivian, her parents, five brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held in the spring in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Family was always at the center of Ella’s life, and she will be dearly
