

Elva Lorene Eastridge Menges, better known as "Lorene" was born on March 24, 1926 in Atoka, Oklahoma passed away on February 16, 2015 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents Avery and Elva Eastridge of Chandler Heights, Arizona, her husband Gene Menges of Chandler, Arizona and daughter Cynthia Gayle Simmons of Palm Bay, Florida. Lorene was the beloved mother of five children. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Gloria Mundy and Lisa (Nick) Meyer, sons Michael (Carmen) Menges and Robbie Menges, granddaughters Terri (Tom) Dearing, Julie (Scott) Arnold, Jill (Tim) Hamilton, Christina (Tim) Hefley and Michelle Menges, grandsons Jerry (Lisa) Copeland, Greg Menges and Benjamin Meyer, 14 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters and 4 great-great-grandsons. She was the eldest of eight children, she is survived by three brothers Bob (Carol) of Oregon, Victor of Arizona and Edward (Judy) of New Mexico. She was preceded in death by siblings Oweta Templeton, Bud Eastridge, Joe Eastridge and Dorothy Brown. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend to many.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Greenfield Church of Christ, located at 4325 S Greenfield Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85297. Final resting place is the Valley of Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler AZ 5248. A reception will follow and this information will be given at the service.
Lorene's family moved to West Texas in 1929. She was baptized in to the church of Christ in her early teens. She married Gene Menges on November 18, 1942 and they were together for 51 years. They moved to Oakland, Oregon in 1954 and then to Chandler, Arizona in 1962. She was a homemaker and raised her five children and took care of many of her grandchildren and her great-grandsons until 1998. She was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter, Lisa's troop in the late 70's. She held ladies bible studies at her home in Chandler. After her husband, Gene passed away in 1994, she moved to Mesa, AZ. Her son, Robbie lived with her. She was very found of all her pets, especially her dog, BB. She moved into Enrose Assisted living in 2013. In the summer of 2014, she was able to hold her new great-granddaughter, Arya. This brought great joy to her heart.
When asked what her most treasured possession was, she wrote "My family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren are my most treasured possessions".
