Francis was born 8 April, 1933. He was preceded in death by his father , Emil Ebneter , of Harisu, Switzerland; mother, Bertha Kubly Ebneter of Montisello, Wisconsin and sister Donna Klavon . He has an older brother Arnold and a younger sister Teri Widstrand.
Francis is a retired 20 year veteran of the US Air Force. He was a pilot, navigator and bombardier. He was a LT. Col. In rank and the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.), the Air Medal with thirteen oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Commendation medal with two oak leaf clusters for combat service during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was married to Olga Marie Yates 15 June 1958 and follows her in death after 60 years of marriage. They raised two daughters, Sharon Ann Birtciel and Deborah Gayle Shaw. They have four grandchildren (Tina, Angie, Chad and Jennifer) and fourteen great grandchildren. Francis graduated from Portage High School class of 1951 and attended Stevens Point State College for one year before entering the Air Force in August of 1952. During the twenty years with the Air Force he first trained to be a navigator-bombardier and then attended pilot training. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
