Francis "Frank" George Hand Jr.

He married Ireta October 17, 1952 while stateside from the United States Navy. He enlisted in the Navy in June of 1951 and served aboard the USS Whiteside AKA 90 (Attack Cargo Ship). He made 18 trips across the ocean to Sasebo and Yokosuka Japan.

Frank began working with AT&T following his Naval service and retired from Pacific Bell Systems in 1994. He enjoyed working and he had the ability to see and fix problems with processes with his organizational skills. He worked at multiple offices in Southern California and managed many employees throughout his career. Frank and Ireta lived most of their lives in Ventura County beginning in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Moorpark before moving to Arizona. He enjoyed his retirement to the fullest, traveling with Ireta in their RV along with gardening and working on many projects at home, the ranch and Pinetop.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Ireta who passed December 15, 2010 after 58 years of marriage as well as by his parents Francis George Hand Sr. and Elizabeth T. Thurman; Brother Donald Eugene Hand. He leaves behind daughters Sheryl Hand, Karen Fullmer (Lynn), Kathy Hand, granddaughters Jennifer Tufto (David), Kristi Phillips (Shawn) and great grandchildren Jonathan Tufto, Kaitlynn Tufto, Chase Phillips and Paige Phillips and his beloved girlfriend Sharon O’Brien, Nephew Dave Hand (Debbie) and family.
